There is an advantage to having a boutique in Roccapiemonte, at the gateway to the Amalfi Coast: the Amalfi Coast is not a postcard to us, it is home. We experience it all year round, on holidays and weekdays alike, when the villages grow quiet again. So here is our guide to summer 2026: what to see, the events to mark in your diary, and a few curiosities that tourists usually discover only on their second visit.
The stops that never disappoint
Positano is the vertical nativity scene everyone knows: pastel-coloured houses clinging to the rock, and alleyways descending towards Marina Grande among artisan sandal workshops where made-to-measure pairs are crafted in just a few minutes, and vividly coloured ceramics. Amalfi is home to the Cathedral of Saint Andrew at the top of its monumental staircase, along with the Cloister of Paradise: the view from the square is one of the most spectacular in Italy. Ravello, perched 350 metres above the sea, is the Amalfi Coast’s panoramic viewpoint: Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone offer the most photographed views of the Gulf of Salerno, including the famous Terrace of Infinity.
The less crowded villages also deserve a detour: Cetara with its anchovy colatura, Vietri sul Mare, the home of ceramics, Atrani (one of Italy’s smallest municipalities, just a step from Amalfi), the Furore fjord and Praiano, which has the coast’s longest sunsets.
Summer 2026 events
The main attraction is the Ravello Festival, now in its 74th edition: from 4 July to 5 September 2026, the Belvedere of Villa Rufolo will host 22 events spanning symphonic music, baroque, opera and jazz, along with an exhibition dedicated to William Kentridge. The signature event remains the sunrise concert: music at 5:30 in the morning as the sun rises over the gulf - an experience worth the journey on its own.
Also worth noting: the literary series Mare, Sole e Cultura in Positano (June-July, in Piazza Flavio Gioia), Ferragosto di Positano with fireworks over the sea, Minori in White on 26 August at the Arena del Mare, and the Byzantine New Year in Amalfi at the end of August, when the town recalls the splendour of the ancient Maritime Republic with banners and costumed processions.
Curiosities for true locals
If Ravello is now known as the “City of Music”, we have Richard Wagner to thank: while visiting the gardens of Villa Rufolo in 1880, he recognised in them the magical garden of Klingsor from his Parsifal, and from then on the village became associated with great music. The delizia al limone, a dome of sponge cake and lemon cream, is the coast’s signature dessert (in Minori and the surrounding area, pastry shops compete for the honour of making the best one), while in Praiano the traditional dish is totani e patate. And the famous Path of the Gods, from Bomerano di Agerola to Nocelle, offers the most spectacular views of the coast: set out early in the morning, wearing suitable shoes and carrying water.
How to get around (advice from those who live here)
In summer, the Amalfitana State Road is beautiful but congested: the most scenic and practical way to get around is by sea, with ferries from Salerno to Amalfi and Positano - more views, no parking. Those arriving by car from Naples or Rome can descend from the Valico di Chiunzi (Angri Sud exit) directly towards Ravello and Maiori: it is the gateway we use, just a short distance from our boutique.

The Amalfi Coast calls for a lightweight yet polished wardrobe: you move from the boat to the staircase, from the beach to aperitivo on a terrace.
