Men’s Wallets · Piquadro · Orciani · Vittorio Citro

Choose a wallet for men by answering three questions: how many cards you carry, whether you still use coins, and which pocket you’ll keep it in. Here you’ll find the ones available in our boutique, by Piquadro, Orciani and our own line featuring the engraved Vittorio Citro logo: bifold, vertical, with a money clip, and compact styles with cards that slide out. Almost all are made of leather, and we indicate RFID protection only when specified in the product details.

How many cards, how many coins

The number of card slots is listed in almost all product details, and it’s the first thing to check. Four are enough for a debit card, credit card, driver’s license and health card; loyalty cards can quickly bring the total to eight or ten. Among the most spacious is Piquadro’s Blue Square, with twelve slots in a wallet just one and a half centimetres thick. At the other end are models with two or three card slots and a coin pocket, designed for those who still use cash.

One thing we’ve noticed at the counter: a full coin pocket is what makes a wallet bulge and lose its shape, especially in a back trouser pocket. If you hardly ever use coins, a flat style with a spring clip or money clip is a good choice.

Bifold, vertical, with a spring clip

The horizontal bifold, around 11 by 9 centimetres, is the classic: it opens in two and fits in a jacket’s inside pocket. The vertical style is narrower and taller, and fits more easily in a front jeans pocket; you’ll find it in Piquadro’s Blue Square Revamp and in the soft styles from our own line.

A spring money clip holds folded banknotes without a separate compartment: it’s featured on the Piquadro spring-clip wallet, our wallet with a money clip, and a compact Piquadro style with a banknote clip and ten card slots. Many Piquadro wallets instead have a removable document holder, a detachable insert for a driver’s license or a few extra cards that you can remove when you want a slimmer wallet.

Leather and fabric styles

Piquadro’s Blue Square line is made of mineral-tanned calfskin, with raw-cut edges hand-painted blue: the detail that makes it recognisable. The B2 Revamp is made of soft-constructed cowhide. Orciani uses hammered leather for the Micron, with a raised grain that shows signs of wear less readily. Much of our own line is hammered leather too, and it also includes a version in brown greased leather.

Then there are the mixed-material styles. Piquadro’s David line combines recycled fabric and leather; other Piquadro wallets are made of leather and technical fabric, with a polyester and cotton outer. They have a sportier look: for a formal gift, we’d stick with leather.

RFID: what it does and which styles have it

RFID shielding prevents contactless cards from being read by a device held close to the wallet. On this page, it’s specified for many Piquadro styles, including the compact wallet with a banknote clip, some models with an integrated coin pocket, several with a removable document holder, the FX line and the slim David. It’s also specified for the compact styles in our own line, which have an inner metal core and a sliding system, activated from the bottom, that releases the cards.

If it isn’t mentioned in the product details, we don’t assume it’s included: for example, the Blue Square with twelve card slots doesn’t specify it. If it’s a requirement for you, check the product details or ask us.

When a cardholder is enough

If you carry three cards and a few banknotes, you need less than a full wallet. Piquadro makes a leather MagSafe banknote holder with a magnetic panel, measuring seven by nine and a half centimetres, that attaches to the back of an iPhone with MagSafe. If you only need space for cards, explore our men’s cardholders, while styles that attach to your phone are in our MagSafe cardholders collection. A men’s gift that doesn’t require a size

A wallet is one of the safest gifts for men because it doesn’t require a size. Choose the colour based on what he already uses: black, blue, brown or mahogany. Let his pocket decide the style: bifold if he wears a jacket, vertical or compact if he lives in jeans. If you get it wrong, returns in Italy are free within 30 days.

A wallet is often paired with a men’s belt, which does need to be the right size. You’ll find more ideas in our gift ideas for him, and the brand’s full leather goods range on the Piquadro page. A wallet is one of the safest gifts for a father, and you’ll find several in our gift ideas for Dad. Our graduation gifts also include leather wallets: we recommend them as a gift from friends or a brother.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a men’s wallet?

Start with the cards you carry, as the number of slots is listed in almost all product details. Then decide whether you need a coin pocket, which makes a wallet more versatile but also thicker. Finally, consider the pocket: the bifold style works well in a jacket, while vertical and compact styles suit jeans.

What does RFID mean on a wallet?

It means the wallet has shielding that prevents contactless cards from being read by a nearby device. We mention it only for styles where it’s specified in the product details: among the styles on this page, that includes many Piquadro wallets and the compact styles in our own line with a metal core.

How many cards fit in a men’s wallet?

It depends on the style. Our range includes wallets with a coin pocket and two or three card slots, as well as the Piquadro Blue Square with twelve. The compact styles in our own line have a sliding card system, a banknote compartment and three pockets for cards and business cards.

Is a wallet with or without a coin pocket better?

Choose a coin pocket if you still use coins every day. Otherwise, a flat style with a spring clip or money clip is a better choice: a full coin pocket is the main reason a wallet bulges and loses its shape.

Is a wallet a good gift for a man?

Yes, it’s one of the safest choices because it doesn’t require a size. Choose the colour based on what he already uses and the style to suit his pocket. Returns in Italy are free within 30 days.

Are Piquadro wallets made of genuine leather?

Almost all are: the product details specify leather, cowhide or calfskin where indicated, and the Blue Square line is mineral-tanned. Exceptions include the David line, made of recycled fabric and leather, and the leather and technical fabric styles, which are identified as such in the product details.
