Women's leather goods · Card holders
In a bag, a card holder does a different job from the one it does in a pocket: it does not need to lie flat, it needs not to disappear. That is why women's models are almost always more distinctive — solid color, metal plaque, textured leather — while men's tend toward black and discretion.
Why it is found, or not found
If you keep it in a roomy bag, a flat black card holder is something you will search for every time. A bright color or a polished plaque solves the problem better than any inner pocket. If the bag is small, or if the card holder is the only thing you carry in the evening, the opposite applies and the only thing that matters is that it is slim.
The leathers
Cowhide is the leather used for the Pinko Airone models: compact, with a fine grain and a surface that remains taut over time. It is not a leather that softens much, which is an advantage for a small item that needs to hold its shape. Python-print leather — printed, not exotic — adds relief and completely changes the way it catches the light.
Grained leather, used on the MC2 Saint Barth model, is hammered: it hides scratches better than any other finish and is the practical choice for anyone who throws things into their bag without thinking. Emporio Armani's embossed suede is the most delicate of the four and the most pleasant to touch.
The boutique's advice. If the card holder lives inside a large bag, choose one in a color other than black: it's the only way to avoid spending thirty seconds looking for it at the checkout. If it comes out on its own in the evening, then only thickness matters, and compact cowhide is the most reliable choice.
The brands
Pinko is the most represented brand: the Airone models in cowhide, the python-print version and the Love Birds Leather Card Holder, which reprises the buckle with the two facing birds that has become the maison's signature. Emporio Armani brings cowhide and suede, while MC2 Saint Barth offers grained leather with the logo.
For something more spacious, there are women's wallets. The full selection is in the cardholders hub, and the men's styles are here.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a women's and a men's cardholder?
Technically, neither: the format follows the credit card, and the capacity is the same. The difference is in the finish and colour - styles designed for women tend towards solid colours, metal plaques and worked leathers, because they live inside a handbag and need to be easy to find, rather than lie flat in a pocket.
Is python-effect leather snake leather?
No. It is embossed bovine leather designed to reproduce the python pattern. This is a surface treatment, not exotic leather, and it behaves like ordinary tanned leather.
Can a cardholder replace a wallet?
If you don't carry cash or coins, yes, and that's why more and more customers choose it. If you need banknotes and change, a style with a banknote compartment or a small wallet is more practical.
Are Pinko cardholders made of genuine leather?
Yes, the styles we stock are made of cowhide leather, in smooth or embossed python-effect versions. The exact composition is indicated on each product page.
