Women's Shoes · Boots
The word “boots” covers shoes that are nothing alike: a 41-centimetre shaft and an UGG Ultra Mini at 8.9 are two different purchases, for two different wardrobes. This is the page for all the women's boots we carry, divided according to how they are actually made.
Shaft measurements, not words
The shaft is the height of the tube rising from the ankle, and in a boutique it is the measurement that determines the fit. Below 18 centimetres, the boot stops at the ankle or just above it: it works with everything, asks nothing of your trousers, and is our broadest category. Above 18, it begins to cover the calf, and from that point on the garment you wear with it changes - either jeans go in, or the skirt does.
That is why the pages are separate: tall boots are in one section, ankle boots and booties in another, while combat boots have their own because they are a category apart - lug soles, lacing, and breaking in.
The four families we carry
Tall boots - Casadei in suede with a reversible shaft, ASH with a block heel and a 41-centimetre shaft, JVAM in Italian leather with a 40-centimetre shaft, and Pinko with a kitten heel and logo applied to the shaft.
Shearling ankle boots are the heart of the season: UGG Classic Mini (12.7 and 14 centimetres), Ultra Mini (8.9), lace-up Classic Heritage, and the 20.3-centimetre Classic Short. They are also the styles where choosing the wrong size is most common - the wool compresses and the boot expands.
Lace-up boots and lace-ups: Dr. Martens 1460, Jadon, Sinclair and Pascal, Copenhagen Studios with lug soles, Pinko EVA 05. Waterproof styles: Timberland Premium 6-Inch and Stone Street, the only styles in the selection genuinely designed for rainy weather.
What we always ask in store. “What will you wear it with?” If the answer is straight-leg jeans or trousers, the ankle boot solves everything and can be worn from September to April. If the answer is a skirt or dress, then you need a tall shaft, and at that point the measurement that matters is not your shoe size but your calf circumference.
Sizing: when to size down and when to size up
There is no single rule, and anyone who gives you one is oversimplifying. With shearling UGGs — Classic Mini, Short, Ultra Mini — the wool compresses with wear: between two sizes, choose the smaller one. With Tasman styles, on the other hand, the structure gives very little, so do the opposite: between two sizes, choose the larger one. The model-by-model chart is in the UGG size guide.
With Dr. Martens, the leather is stiff for the first few weeks and then adapts to your foot: choose your usual size, and if you are between sizes, go down. Model-specific details can be found in the Dr. Martens size guide. Timberland styles have a generous fit by nature: the Timberland guide explains when it is best to size down.
Après-ski boots and snow boots
Moon Boot are something else entirely: they are not city boots with warm lining, but après-ski boots, designed to keep you warm while standing still in the cold, not for walking around the city center. We keep them separate for precisely this reason.
If you are looking for something other than boots: heels, pumps, and sneakers. For men, there are also men's boots.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between boots and ankle boots?
It is the shaft height, meaning the tube that rises from the ankle. Below approximately 18 centimetres, they are called ankle boots or booties: they stop at the ankle or just above it. Above that, the boot begins to cover the calf and changes how it can be styled, because the trousers either go inside or stop above it.
Which women's boots work well with a skirt?
Those with a tall shaft, from 35 centimetres upward: they close the line between the hem and the shoe. With a knee-length skirt, a calf-high boot also works; with a long dress or midi skirt, a knee-high shaft offers the most coverage.
How do you choose boots for rainy weather?
They must be declared waterproof, not merely «water-resistant»: in our selection, the Timberland Premium 6-Inch and Stone Street boots meet this standard, made with a membrane and sealed seams. Suede and shearling are not designed for water and should be protected before first use, not afterward.
Can boots be returned if the size is wrong?
Yes, returns are free within 30 days, provided the footwear has not been worn outdoors: try them on at home, on a carpet. Shipping is free for orders over 149 euros and arrives within 24-48 hours.
Which women's boot brands do you carry?
UGG, Dr. Martens, Timberland, Pinko, Casadei, ASH, Copenhagen Studios, JVAM, Loriblu, Ninalilou, Marc Ellis, Woolrich and Moon Boot. We are authorized retailers: every pair comes directly from the brand, with its warranty.
