UGG styles are famous for two things: wool comfort and... sizing doubts. "Do they run large or small?", "Why can't I find the half size?", "With or without socks?" In this guide, we answer everything as simply as possible: how UGG styles fit, model by model (Classic, Tasman, Tazz and the Lowmel sneaker), the conversion chart and tips for choosing the right size the first time.
The golden rule: it depends on the model
| Model | How it fits | Which size to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Classic Mini / Short / Ultra Mini | The interior wool is generous at first, then compresses and the boot "stretches" | Your usual size; if you're between two sizes, choose the smaller one |
| Tasman (the iconic slipper) | Firmer structure, little give | Your usual size; between two sizes, choose the larger one |
| Tazz (with the fringe) | Slightly generous fit | Your usual size, or half a size smaller if available |
| Lowmel (the sneaker) | Regular sneaker fit | Your usual sneaker size |
Why do Classic styles "stretch"? The interior is made of genuine sheepskin wool: during the first 2-3 weeks, the pile compresses with wear and the boot molds to the shape of your foot. That's why they should feel comfortably snug at first (never painful): if they "slip" on the first day, they'll be too big in a month.
The half-size issue
Here's the reason for all the confusion: most UGG women's models are available only in whole sizes (half sizes are available only for part of the men's range). If you wear a half size, follow the model rule: for Classic styles, go down to the whole size below; for Tasman and structured models, go up to the size above.
UGG size conversion chart - Women's
The most reliable reference is always the foot length in cm.
| EU | US Women's | UK | Foot (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 36 | 5 | 3 | 22 |
| 37 | 6 | 4 | 23 |
| 38 | 7 | 5 | 24 |
| 39 | 8 | 6 | 25 |
| 40 | 9 | 7 | 26 |
| 41 | 10 | 8 | 27 |
| 42 | 11 | 9 | 27,5 |
Indicative values from the official UGG chart. For men: UGG's official conversion from women's to men's sizing is -2 on the US scale (e.g. women's US 9 = men's US 7).
With or without socks?
Natural-wool UGGs are designed to be worn barefoot: the wool regulates temperature (warm in winter, cool indoors) and moulds to your foot. However, if you always wear them with socks, especially thick ones, consider going up half a size (or one full size where half sizes aren’t available).
How to measure your foot in 30 seconds
At the end of the day, place your heel against a wall on a sheet of paper: mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the centimetres. Compare it with the chart above. If your feet are different sizes (which is completely normal), use the measurement of the longer foot.
Find your UGGs
In our UGG collection, you’ll find Classic, Tasman and Lowmel sneakers, all authentic and eligible for returns within 30 days: if the size isn’t right, you can exchange it hassle-free (free shipping on orders over €149). A tip from retailers: the most popular models sell out of the core sizes as early as the beginning of autumn - if you’ve got your eye on a pair, don’t wait until November.
Frequently asked questions about UGG sizing
Do UGGs run large or small?
Wool-lined Classics fit generously after breaking in: between two sizes, choose the smaller one. Tasman and structured models are true to size; the Lowmel sneaker fits like a regular sneaker.
Do UGGs come in half sizes?
For most women’s models, no, only whole sizes: follow the model’s sizing rule (Classic → size down, Tasman → size up).
Do UGGs stretch?
Yes, the ones with a natural wool lining: the fleece compresses during the first few weeks and the boot adapts to your foot. That’s why they should feel snug when new.
How does the UGG Lowmel fit?
It’s a sneaker with a regular fit: choose the size you usually wear in other sneakers.
