Piquadro approaches the cardholder as a mechanical problem, not a leather goods problem, which is why it is the brand with the widest range of models in this category. Other maisons work with leather and color; here, the focus is on how the cards come out, how flat the item remains and what can be attached to it.

The four mechanisms

Aluminum and elastic. Two metal plates, a leather insert and an elastic band that holds everything together. The cards never bend, access is immediate and the item withstands the back pocket of jeans better than any model made entirely of leather.

Automatic opening. A side lever fans the cards out in a staggered arrangement, so you can choose the right one without removing them all. This is the model for those who pass through gates, restaurants and checkout counters several times a day.

MagSafe ring. A ring of magnets that attaches the cardholder to the back of iPhone models 12 and later, or to a compatible case. It turns the phone into the only thing to put in your pocket and is the line Piquadro has invested in most in recent years: it is also the deepest part of our assortment.

Plain leather. Pockets and nothing more, no mechanism, the minimum possible thickness. It remains the choice for those who want only the essentials in their jacket pocket.

RFID protection

Many Piquadro models feature anti-cloning protection, often combined with aluminum, which by its nature already acts as a barrier. This function adds no thickness and is mainly useful for electronic documents; with contactless cards, the actual risk is low, as we explain on the page featuring all cardholders.

The boutique's advice. If you have an iPhone 12 or later, the model with a MagSafe ring is the one that really changes the habit: you leave with just your phone. If your phone is Android or you are wondering whether you will use it, the aluminum model with an elastic strap is the most versatile and does not depend on any standard.

It works with iPhones from the iPhone 12 onward, which have an integrated ring of magnets, and with MagSafe-certified cases. Earlier models and Android smartphones do not have a magnet to attach to.

What is the difference between the aluminum and leather models?

Aluminum keeps cards perfectly flat and protects them from bending, making it the right choice if you keep your card holder in your back pocket. Leather is thinner and quieter, adapts to the thickness of your cards during the first few weeks, and develops a patina over time. Several Piquadro models combine both materials.
