If you have arrived here, the question is almost always the same: a clog you can slip on like a slipper, or a low boot? This is the first fork in the road, and it cuts the choice in half. Tasman and Tazz are slip-on clogs: your foot goes in from above, with a shearling collar and a "cosy slipper" look that you can also wear outdoors. Classic Mini and Ultra Mini are low boots: a short shaft that wraps around the ankle, with UGG's most recognisable silhouette of all time.
The second question is the platform, meaning the raised sole: yes or no. If you are looking for a few extra centimetres and a little more presence, the Tazz II Plateau and the Classic Mini with a platform sole do exactly that. If you prefer the familiar, understated comfort of a flat sole, choose the Tasman or the classic Classic Mini. From here on, we look at each model, with the real differences we notice every winter on our customers' feet - we are authorised UGG retailers and stock these styles in our boutique, rather than describing them from a product sheet.
Clog: Tasman vs Tazz (and the new platform version)
The Tasman is the original closed-back clog: a full upper, a shearling collar that peeks out over the instep, and a flat sole with a zigzag pattern. It began as a slipper and après-ski shoe, but for several seasons now it has been worn everywhere, with visible socks, like a mule. Our Tasman II Rocky Oak is this version, in a warm shade that goes with everything. For those who prioritise sustainability, there is the Tasman Crafted Regenerate, with the same shape and recycled materials.
The Tazz is the Tasman with a platform sole: the same comfort, the same collar, but a few extra centimetres underneath that change the proportions and posture. It is the model that went viral, putting UGG back at the centre of street style. The Tazz II Plateau in classic chestnut is the version customers ask for by name. On the foot, the difference is significant: the Tasman disappears under straight-leg trousers, while the Tazz stands out and elongates the silhouette.
The sheepskin inside both is genuine UGG sheepskin: warm, it settles with wear, and takes the shape of the foot. After a few weeks, the fit loosens slightly - a detail that matters when choosing a size, as we explain below.
Ankle boots: Classic Mini versus Ultra Mini (and the platform versions)
Let's move on to the ankle boots. The Classic Mini is the quintessential low UGG: a shaft that reaches just above the ankle, a sheepskin upper, and the silhouette that made the brand's history. Our Classic Mini Dipper adds a foldable shaft, so you can wear it pulled up or folded down to reveal the inner sheepskin - two shoes in one.
The Classic Ultra Mini is its sister style with an even shorter shaft. Less fabric around the ankle, a cleaner, more minimal line, and that compact look that works well with this season's wide-leg trousers. Our best-selling style is the Classic Ultra Mini in sheepskin, while the men's Ultra Mini in chestnut brings the same ankle boot to the men's wardrobe.
There is a raised version here too: the Classic Mini Pumped Molded features a molded platform sole that adds lift without compromising the iconic shaft. It is the answer for anyone who loves the Mini ankle boot but wants the platform effect of the Tazz.
UGG platform: Tazz, Classic Mini and Ultra Mini Platform, how they fit
UGG platform styles are the classic models set on a higher sole: the upper and inner shape remain the same, while the thickness under the foot changes. For this reason, choose your size according to the rule for the original model, not the platform. The heights listed below are those stated in the product descriptions of the models we carry in the boutique.
Classic Ultra Mini Platform. This is the short boot on a 5.1 cm platform, with an 8.9 cm shaft and an asymmetrical topline. It is the platform style we are asked about most, and we have it in several colors: black, sand, and light bronze suede. One detail worth knowing: in these versions, the lining and insole are made of UGGplush, a blend of recycled wool and lyocell, rather than sheepskin. For sizing, follow the Classic rule: choose your usual size, and if you are between sizes, choose the smaller one, as the interior settles with wear. All the short styles are in the UGG Ultra Mini collection.
Tazz. This is the sabot with a platform and a woven strap across the instep. In addition to the chestnut Tazz II Plateau, we have the Tazz Botanic, in embroidered suede with a 4.4 cm platform, and the Tazz Plains in leopard-print calf hair. According to our guide, the Tazz fits slightly generously: choose your usual size, or half a size down if available. In the first few days, the thick lining feels a little snug across the instep, then settles. Be careful not to confuse it with the Tasman, which has no platform and follows the opposite rule: between two sizes, choose the larger one. You can find them all among the UGG slippers.
Classic Mini with platform. The choice is more limited here. The model we have is the Classic Mini Pumped Molded: a 4.4 cm internal wedge and a back zip, so from the outside it looks like the classic boot. This model does not have a specific rule in the guide, so write to us before ordering and we’ll tell you how the size you have in mind fits. If your size is unavailable, the Ultra Mini Platform has the same concept with a shorter shaft.
Higher or lower. If you're looking for more height, the Classic Esmee Lace Up Platform has laces at the front and a 7 cm platform. If you only want a barely noticeable lift, the Disquette is a suede slipper with a sheepskin collar and a platform of approximately 2.5 cm.
When it comes to weight, there's good news: in the Ultra Mini Platform and the Tazz Botanic and Plains, the sole and platform are made of EVA, so the shoe remains lightweight despite its thickness. The platform changes your stride, not the size. For EU, US and UK conversions, you'll find the chart in our UGG sizing guide, model by model.
Which UGG to choose for you
No model is "the best": it depends on how you wear it. Here's how we guide your choice in store.
| Model | What it is | Height / platform | For whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tasman II | Slip-on clog, flat sole | Low, no platform | Everyday comfort, understated look |
| Tazz II Plateau | Platform clog | Raised | For those who want height and presence |
| Classic Mini Dipper | Ankle boot, foldable shaft | Mid-height, no platform | For those who want a versatile ankle boot |
| Classic Ultra Mini | Ankle boot, short shaft | Short, no platform | Minimal, clean look |
| Classic Ultra Mini Platform | Short ankle boot with platform | 5.1 cm platform | The Ultra Mini look with a few extra centimetres |
| Classic Mini Pumped | Platform ankle boot | Raised | Ankle boot + platform effect |
In practice: if you're looking for maximum slip-on comfort without having to think about it, choose the Tasman. Want the viral shoe that gets noticed? Choose the Tazz. Prefer an ankle boot that provides more coverage and keeps your ankle warmer? Choose the Classic Mini. Like the clean line under wide-leg trousers? Choose the Ultra Mini. Want a few extra centimetres? Look to the platform versions. Find all available models, colours and sizes in the UGG collection.

Fit and sizing: the boutique's advice
This is the question we get more than any other, and the answer differs between clogs and ankle boots.
UGG sheepskin is dense and settles with wear: the fit starts snug and, after a few weeks, conforms to the shape of your foot. On clogs, the opening feels snug because of the collar, and the rule differs between the two: Tasman has a more structured construction and gives little, so between two sizes choose the larger; Tazz runs slightly large, so choose your usual size or half a size down if available. For Classic Mini and Ultra Mini boots, including platform versions, choose your usual size and, between two sizes, the smaller one. This is the rule in our UGG size guide; if you're still unsure, contact us before ordering.
One practical detail: UGG styles work well with thick socks, which are part of the look and help keep you warm. If you already know you'll wear them this way, keep that in mind and don't size down. If in doubt, write to us before ordering — we'd rather advise you on the right size than handle a return.
How to style them in autumn-winter
The beauty of this season's UGG styles is that they work during the day, not just at home. A few quick ideas.
Platform clogs with visible socks: Tazz or Tasman over ribbed socks, straight-leg trousers or leggings, and an oversized sweater. The sock peeking out is part of the look, not a fallback. Slip the Ultra Mini boots under wide-leg jeans or wool sweatpants for that gathered line at the ankle. The Classic Mini also works with a midi skirt and opaque tights when you want something more structured. Platform versions, finally, call for clean volumes on top: if the shoe elongates the silhouette, keep the rest streamlined.
Why buy them from us
UGG is a highly imitated brand, and many replicas circulate online. We are authorized UGG retailers: every pair comes with the original box, tags, and sheepskin, and we have also written a separate guide on why buying from an authorized retailer matters. If you want the complete overview of the season, you can also find our guide to UGG autumn-winter models.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the UGG Tazz and Tasman? They are the same slip-on clog with a sheepskin collar. The difference is the sole: the Tasman has a flat sole, while the Tazz features a platform sole raised by a few centimeters. The Tazz gives you more height and stands out more; the Tasman is lower and more understated.
Classic Mini or Ultra Mini: which is better? It depends on the shaft height. The Classic Mini reaches just above the ankle and provides more coverage; the Ultra Mini has an even shorter shaft for a minimal, clean look. If you want versatility and a little more warmth around the ankle, choose the Mini; if you love a streamlined look under wide-leg trousers, choose the Ultra Mini.
Are UGG platform styles worth it? If you are looking for a few extra centimeters and a more impactful silhouette, yes. The lift ranges from approximately 2.5 cm on the Disquette to 5.1 cm on the Classic Ultra Mini Platform, and up to 7 cm on the Classic Esmee; where the sole is made of EVA, the weight remains low. If you prefer a flat, comfortable style, choose the Tasman or the classic Classic Mini.
How do UGG platform styles fit? Like the model they are based on, because the platform does not change the inner shape. Classic Ultra Mini Platform: your usual size; if you are between sizes, choose the smaller one, as with all Classic styles. Tazz: slightly roomy, so choose your usual size or half a size smaller if available.
What size UGGs should I get? It depends on the model. Classic Mini and Ultra Mini: your usual size; if you are between sizes, choose the smaller one, as the lining settles. Tasman: a more solid structure that gives little, so if you are between sizes, choose the larger one. Tazz: slightly roomy, so choose your usual size or half a size smaller if available. If you will wear them with thick socks, keep that in mind. The US/UK/EU size chart is in our UGG size guide. Looking for ideas? Read how to style UGGs, with outfits for every model and occasion.
