We’re halfway through the 2026 summer sales: the perfect moment. Discounts are now fully in effect, but the standard sizes of the best pieces won’t wait. The right question, however, isn’t “what costs less,” but: what is really worth buying on sale? As retailers, here’s our honest answer: the pieces where the discount is an investment, not a temptation.
The rule above all
During the sales, shop wisely by asking just one question: “Would I have wanted it at full price too?” If yes, it’s a bargain. If not, it’s just a purchase. And remember the protection provided by the Omnibus Directive: the discount must be calculated on the lowest price charged in the previous 30 days - beware of “inflated” markdowns.
The pieces worth investing in
1. The iconic sneaker. Timeless styles don’t go out of fashion in September: you’ll wear an adidas Samba or a suede sneaker for years. If you find it discounted in your size, it offers the best cost-per-wear ratio of the summer (and before ordering, read our Samba size guide).
2. A quality swimsuit. In mid-July, you still have two months of beach time ahead: a discounted MC2 Saint Barth boxer swim shorts pays for itself immediately and will be in perfect condition next summer too.
3. Good linen. Quality linen shirts and trousers are the classic pieces that become irresistible on sale: timeless, almost seasonless and without regrets. Browse the men’s selection discounted by up to 50%.
4. A designer bag. It’s the smartest sale purchase: bags have no size, don’t go out of season and the discount on a designer piece represents real value. We discussed it here: designer bags on sale that are genuine bargains.
5. The belt that defines the look. Small price, maximum impact: a Pinko Love Birds belt can refresh half your wardrobe on its own.
6. Sandals and loafers. Quality women’s shoes on sale - artisanal sandals, loafers and slingbacks - are the purchase that will take you through to October.
7. Outerwear bought early. The expert move: buying a blazer or lightweight jacket in July for September. Maximum discount, zero competition for sizes.
Mistakes to avoid
Three classic traps: buying a “nearly right” size because yours is sold out (you’ll never wear it); chasing this summer’s trend piece when the season is almost over; and filling your cart based only on the discount percentage instead of the final price.

Frequently asked questions
How long do the 2026 summer sales last?
Across most of Italy, around 60 days from 4 July, with end dates varying by region (in some areas, they run until the end of September).
Can sale items be returned?
Yes, online: with us, returns within 30 days also apply to discounted items.
How can I tell whether a discount is genuine?
Under the Omnibus Directive, the crossed-out price must be the lowest price charged in the previous 30 days: if an e-commerce site is transparent, it will state this clearly.
