Guide to the season · Autumn-winter 2026-2027
Seasonal trends are easier to understand in store than on the runway: what people try on and buy tells us more than what walks the runway. For a few weeks now, we've been seeing three clear shifts, and they're not the ones we all expected.
This is the overview guide; each chapter includes a link to a deeper dive.
1. Suede is the material of the season
Across the board: shoes, bags, jackets and boots. It's the most visible change compared with the past two years, dominated by glossy leather. Suede absorbs light instead of reflecting it, making it more understated and warmer - perfect for a season moving towards softness.
It's also the material we've focused on most: between shoes, bags and outerwear, we have several hundred pieces in the boutique. The golden rule remains just one: apply protective spray before the first wear, and never dry them near a radiator.

2. Brown has taken black's place
It's the shift that changes the wardrobe most, because it concerns not one item but the foundation everything is built on. Leather, cognac, dark brown, mocha: brown has become the go-to neutral, and it works with denim, cream and dark green. Burgundy and a cherry-toned red also work well alongside it.
This doesn't mean abandoning black. It means that, if you're buying now, brown is the more interesting choice and black the safer one. You'll find the full palette, with styling combinations, in the guide to autumn-winter 2026-2027 colours.
3. Animal print has become a neutral
Leopard, cow, python: once a collectible detail, they have become a category that sells all year round. The explanation we hear from our customers is that a spotted print behaves like a neutral colour - it works with black, brown and denim - and takes the guesswork out of styling.
The usual rule applies: one animal print piece at a time, styled within a quiet outfit.

4. Volumes soften
After years of rigid structures, the season is moving toward pieces that drape instead of standing upright: unlined coats, lightweight oversized knitwear, and bags that collapse. It is a consistent movement across all categories, changing how an outfit is put together - if everything is soft, the silhouette gets lost, so at least one defined element is needed, usually the trousers.
5. Shoes: low and slim are back
The thick-sole cycle has come to an end. Loafers, terrace-inspired silhouettes and sleek-profile boots are in charge; sneakers are following the same move toward lower, more streamlined shapes. We covered it in detail in our guides to fall-winter 2026-2027 shoes and the season’s sneakers.
6. Bags: shapes that collapse
Half-moon hobo bags, bucket bags, crossbody bags that are wider than they are tall, shoppers without a rigid base. Here too, the key word is softness, and here too, suede takes center stage. The practical detail that matters more than the shape is the strap: under two centimeters wide, it starts to dig in after an hour. The rest is in the guide to fall-winter bags.

What we would skip
Structured micro-bags have run their course. Faux-fur details applied to bags and shoes age badly and clean even worse. And highly distinctive seasonal prints - the ones instantly recognizable as “this year’s” - are fun to wear for six months and embarrassing in month six plus one.
How we put it to our customers. In a season, it is best to buy no more than two “trend” pieces and build the rest around things you would have bought anyway. This year's suede and brown fall into the second category: they are foundational changes, not passing trends, and they will still be here in three years.
In our selection
For the season's wardrobe: women's clothing and men's clothing, with knitwear being the deepest category we currently offer. For shoes, women's and men's; for leather goods, women's bags.
For boots - combat, waterproof, shearling and ankle boots - the details are in our autumn-winter boots guide.
The garment that has changed the most this season is the trouser: the leg has widened almost everywhere, and the weight of the denim - that ounce count listed in the product details - explains why two jeans in the same color can drape in completely different ways. We have written about it in our autumn-winter trousers and jeans guide.
Frequently asked questions
What are the fashion trends for autumn-winter 2026-2027?
Three trends stand out above the rest: suede as the dominant material for shoes, bags and outerwear; brown replacing black as the foundational neutral; and soft volumes, with garments that drape rather than stand away from the body. Alongside these, animal print has established itself as a neutral pattern.
What colors are trending for autumn-winter 2026-2027?
Brown in every shade — leather, cognac, dark brown, mocha — is the season’s neutral. Bordeaux and cherry red work well with it, as does dark green among the cool tones. Total white is giving way to muted neutrals: mud beige, taupe and cream.
Is black no longer in fashion?
Absolutely, but it is no longer the automatic choice. If you need to buy a piece intended to last for years, black remains the most rational choice; brown is the more interesting one this season. They are two different things and should be decided case by case.
How do you wear suede without damaging it?
Apply protective spray before the first use, and use a rubber brush for routine maintenance. The enemy is not rain but direct heat: drying suede near a radiator makes it stiff irreversibly. Also take care to avoid rubbing against dark denim, which transfers colour.
How many trend-led pieces should you buy in a season?
Our boutique advice is two, no more, building the rest around pieces you would have bought anyway. Foundational changes such as suede and this year’s brown are an exception: they are not passing trends, and in three years they will still be current.
We have a dedicated guide to the most purchased item of the cold season: sweaters, cardigans and turtlenecks, including how to read the label and care for them so they last.
For outerwear — coats, down jackets, parkas or bombers — we have a dedicated guide: how to choose it by reading the filling and membrane.
