The winter UGG delivery arrived at the boutique in several shipments between September 3 and 25: twenty-one new styles and colors, sixteen for women and five for men. Here we explain what’s different from the UGG styles you already know, model by model, and which size to choose. The most useful news, before we get to the styles, is about sizing. In early September, before the new stock arrived, our UGG collection had less than half of the sizes available on average, with the core sizes 37, 38, and 40 missing. Almost all the new styles arrived with a full size run from 36 to 41. This is the time of year to find your size without having to settle.

Three new styles that change the boot

Side by side, the new styles reveal three directions. UGG has left the shape almost untouched, focusing instead on the surface and closure: embroidery and applied details, laces, and naturally finished leather that changes with wear.

The embroidery: Ultra Mini Western and Classic Mini Heritage

The Ultra Mini Western features western-inspired embroidery on suede, in two colors: Burnt Cedar and black. It has the same base as the Ultra Mini: a low 8.9 cm shaft, an asymmetrical edge, 17 mm UGGplush lining (60% recycled wool, 40% Lyocell), and a sheepskin insole. The embroidery stands out, so we recommend pairing it with simple trousers, straight-leg jeans, or black trousers, letting the shoe speak for itself.

The Classic Mini Heritage does the same with more subtlety: smooth suede, exposed sheepskin stitching along the 12.7 cm shaft, and a small removable boot-shaped charm. If you love the Classic Mini and already own a pair in chestnut, this is a second version that isn’t a copy of the first.

Laces: Classic Heritage lace-up

The Classic Heritage lace-up addresses a familiar drawback of sheepskin boots: with wear, the wool compresses and the fit loosens. Here, the laces let you tighten or loosen the fit. Inside, the tongue and shaft are lined with sheepskin, with UGGplush lining the rest; the sole is lightweight EVA made from sugarcane.

Unlined leather: Deconstructed

The most striking change is the Deconstructed line, in two versions: the lace-up and the Classic Mini. The upper is unlined leather in sand, which develops a patina of its own over time. Inside, there’s a 10 mm sheepskin insole instead of full lining, with a low-profile molded rubber sole underneath. These UGG boots are lighter and less warm than the Classics, making them more suited to the transitional seasons than January in the mountains. We recommend them if you’ve always found sheepskin boots too soft or too wintery.

This year's Ultra Minis

L'Ultra Mini is the UGG boot we sell most (more than all the other Classics combined over the past year), and this delivery brings three versions alongside the Western. The Classic Ultra Mini in Portobello, made from pre-treated sheepskin for water resistance. The L'Ultra Mini Platform in Light Bronze suede, with a 5.1 cm platform: if you’ve been looking for the high version in a color other than black or sand, you’ll find it here.

Classic Mini II: two new colors

The Classic Mini II is the UGG boot in its most recognizable form: reversed sheepskin, suede, a 14 cm shaft, a Treadlite sole, and a treatment that protects against moisture and stains. This year, it comes in chestnut and Dusty Orchid, a dusty pink. It’s the style to start with if you don’t already own a pair of UGG: compared with the Ultra Mini, it covers more of the ankle, and with a long coat, there’s less of a gap between the hem and the shoe.

Beyond boots: ballet flats, clogs, sneakers

The Zora ballet flats are the surprise of the delivery: suede ballet flats with a 10 mm sheepskin insole. Wear them to the office with tailored trousers or a skirt; the sheepskin insole makes them warmer than an ordinary ballet flat. The Tazz Botanic are Tazz clogs with a 4.4 cm platform and sun-shaped embroidery on the suede: the Tazz silhouette in a less-seen version. All the mules and slippers are in UGG slippers.

Finally, the Lowmel in suede and mesh, in black and Dusty Orchid, features an oversized padded tongue and an extra pair of laces in the box. Find the other versions in the Lowmel collection.

New arrivals for him

For men, UGG has focused on shoes made to be worn beyond the home. The Neumel is a chestnut suede chukka with metal eyelets, cotton laces and a 17 mm UGGplush lining: it pairs well with jeans and a sweater. The Loften is more formal, with oiled full-grain leather, a 10 mm UGGplush lining and a sheepskin tongue, and works with chinos and a jacket.

Then two loafers that bridge the gap between home and the street: the Shep in suede, and the Shep Penny in leather with a penny loafer strap, in black and chestnut. Both feature a 17 mm sheepskin insole and an EVA outsole. Men's sizes range from 40 to 45. The entire selection is available in UGG for men.

Which size to choose

UGG styles don't all fit the same, and the general rule that they «run large» can lead you to choose the wrong size. We follow our size guide for each style and the information on each product page.

Classic Mini II and Ultra Mini in sheepskin: your usual size; if you're between sizes, choose the smaller one, because the sheepskin compresses and the boot stretches. Tazz: runs slightly large, so choose your usual size, or half a size down if available. Lowmel: fits like a regular sneaker, so choose your usual size. Ballet flats Zora: go one size up, as UGG recommends. Classic Mini Deconstructed: if you have a wide foot or high instep, go half a size or one size up.

The boutique’s advice. Last November, four of the seven fastest-growing searches on our site were for UGG. And the sizes that sell out first are the most popular ones: in early September, before delivery, sizes 37, 38 and 40 were already missing. L's shaft height: about 9 cm on the Ultra Mini, 14 cm on the Classic Mini II. The L'Ultra Mini is easier to slip on and leaves the ankle exposed; the Classic Mini II covers it, and with a long coat reduces the gap between hem and shoe.
