The UGG Classic Ultra Mini is the Classic with the shortest shaft: it stops at the ankle, slips on hands-free and sits under trousers without adding bulk. It is the UGG boot we sell the most. Here you will find all the versions we carry: the classic shearling style, the Ultra Mini Platform with its 5.1-centimetre platform, the embroidered Western style and the animal prints, for women and men.

Ultra Mini or Classic Mini

The Classic Mini has a shaft that reaches just above the ankle and covers it completely; the Ultra Mini shortens it further, leaving the ankle almost uncovered. The Mini is slightly warmer; the Ultra Mini is easier to wear with wide-leg trousers because it does not create bulk under the hem. Classic Ultra Mini in shearling

The women's version in Portobello has a pre-treated shearling upper for water resistance, a 17 mm shearling lining and an UGGplush insole. The men's version, in chestnut and black, has a 17 mm shearling upper, a suede heel counter and a rear pull tab. The sole is made from sugarcane EVA or Treadlite by UGG, depending on production. They are the only Ultra Mini styles on the page made from shearling inside and out.

Ultra Mini Platform: the 5.1-centimetre platform

The same ankle boot on a 5.1 cm platform, with an 8.9 cm shaft and an asymmetrical top edge. The upper is made from suede with overlock stitching; the lining and insole are made from 17 mm UGGplush, recycled wool and lyocell, not shearling. The midsole and outsole are made from EVA, so it remains lightweight despite the thickness. We carry it in chestnut, black, sand and light bronze. All UGG styles with a high sole, including Tazz, are among the UGG platform styles.

The platform changes the way you walk and the proportions, not the size: choose your size as you would for the low Ultra Mini. It works well with straight-leg jeans and wide-leg trousers, which do not touch the ground on the platform.

Western and animal prints

The Ultra Mini Western is made from suede with western-inspired embroidery, in burnt cedar and black: 17 mm UGGplush lining, shearling insole and the same 8.9 cm shaft. Then there are two printed styles. The Spotted is made from suede with an aged animal print, so every pair is slightly different; the pony hair version features the Felicity Leopard Jasmine print. Both have UGGplush lining.

Materials taken from the product pages for the styles in the boutique. UGGplush is a fabric made from 60% recycled wool and 40% TENCEL lyocell. Where the product page does not specify the insole, we do not list it.

Which size to choose

Our UGG size guide is clear on the Classics, and the rule applies to the entire Ultra Mini family, including the platform: your usual size and, between two sizes, the smaller one; for the Tasman, the opposite applies. The boot should feel close-fitting at first, never painful: if it feels loose on the first day, it will be too large in a month. Almost all women's styles are available only in whole sizes, so if you wear a half size, go down to the lower whole size.

UGG boots are designed to be worn barefoot or with a thin sock. If you always wear them with a thick sock, the guide recommends going up half a size, or up one whole size where half sizes are unavailable.

Rain and snow

No Ultra Mini style is declared waterproof. The pre-treatment on the shearling version helps preserve its appearance, but it is not designed for walking through water. A protective suede spray on a new pair helps reduce marks and stains, but in heavy rain it is best to leave them at home.
